Mark Yusko: Bitcoin and Crypto Markets Enter Bull Territory, Predicts Prolonged Rally until Next Halving Event

According to Mark Yusko, the founder and CIO of Morgan Creek Capital, Bitcoin (BTC) and the entire crypto market have recently stepped into a bullish phase. In a recent CNBC interview, Yusko expressed his belief that this fresh bull market could endure until the next halving event, scheduled for next year.

Yusko explains, “I firmly believe that the rally we are witnessing is merely the beginning. We have just entered what we refer to as the seasonal period of crypto summer. This is part of the four-year cycle surrounding the halving event, where the block rewards on the Bitcoin blockchain undergo changes every four years. This typically triggers a period of accumulation leading up to the event, which is set to occur next April.”

Furthermore, Yusko anticipates a speculative blow-off phase following the halving event, with a subsequent overreaction on the downside known as crypto winter.

Reiterating his perspective on Bitcoin’s top use case, Yusko highlights its potential to replace gold as the foundation of monetary systems. He states, “Bitcoin is the digital equivalent of gold, assuming the role that gold has played for over 5,000 years. Historically, gold has served as the base layer of currency, an asset devoid of liabilities. It has provided stability and trust. However, gold suffers from limitations such as lack of portability and divisibility. In contrast, Bitcoin, with its permanent and immutable ledger, is well-suited to serve as the base layer of new money going forward.”

Yusko envisions a future where the financial landscape is built upon Bitcoin, with other blockchain applications like Ethereum potentially playing a role in replacing fiat currencies.
